With summer finally here, a seasonal tradition is back in action!

Hess Corp. is celebrating the start of the season with its latest small-scale vintage toy truck set: The 2022 Hess Mini Collection. This year’s collection is a special, 4-in-1 affair that includes small-scale reproductions of vehicles from three decades: the 1989 Hess Fire Truck, the 2008 Hess Truck and Front Loader, and the 2012 Hess Helicopter. They’re packed with details and play features, including more than 50 LED lights, chrome accents, and more.

Now, if you’re not familiar with the legacy of the Hess Toy Truck, here’s a quick backstory.

The Hess Toy Truck began as an East Coast holiday tradition in 1964 when Leon Hess first launched the annual series as an affordable, high-quality gift option for customers of his Hess gas stations. In 1998, after the holiday trucks (despite the name, not always a truck, specifically) had become sought-after toys and collectibles well beyond the East Coast, Hess Corp. debuted the Hess Miniature Series — a collection of playable, collectible vehicles inspired by previously-released full-size counterparts. Released annually each spring (excluding 2015 and 2016 following the sale of the Hess Express gas stations to Speedway), the line was relaunched as the Hess Mini Collection in 2017. Each summer, Hess releases a limited-edition collection of three scaled-down replicas fan-favorite vehicles from years gone by.

The 2022 Hess Mini Collection comes in a three-tiered display box, perfect for collectors, but let’s be real here: these things are for kids ages 3 and up, and they’re meant to be played with!
