Whoo-whoo is that? It’s Eva the Owlet!

Apple TV+ announced a series order for Eva the Owlet, a new animated kids TV series based on the Scholastic book series Owl Diaries by Rebecca Elliott. Since it was first published, Owl Diaries has had eight foreign language translations and three million copies in print. This new series will be produced by Scholastic Entertainment, animated by Brown Bag Films, and feature original songs by Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums.

Eva the Owlet follows Eva, a creative and cheeky owlet who lives next door to her best friend Lucy. They both live in the woodland world of Treetopington. Eva goes on high-flying adventures and expresses herself in her journal along the way.

This animated series is the latest in Apple TV+’s kids’ changemakers initiative that brings world-renowned education leaders together with the world’s most creative storytellers to create original series for kids. Other series include Stillwater, Hello, Jack: The Kindness Show, Pretzel and the Puppies, and more.

For Eva the Owlet, Apple TV+ joined forces with changemaker John F. Evans, MAT, MA, Ed.D. Evans is a writing clinician, is on the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine, and is also the founder and executive director of Wellness & Writing Connections. Evans partnered with James Pennebaker to co-author Expressive Writing: Words that Heal. Both Evans and Pennebaker serve as executive producers on Eva the Owlet and worked to infuse lessons around the value of using writing as a tool of healthy self-expression into the series.

Although there isn’t a release date for Eva the Owlet yet, little writers can familiarize themselves with Elliott’s book before the show premieres. We’re sure the show will be a hoot!
