Arthur is going from tv screens to earbuds!
Arthur is a children’s tv series that spans generations. Based on the books by Marc Brown, Arthur focuses on Arthur Read, the aardvark third-grader, as he and his friends deal with the all-too-familiar childhood worries of friendship, doing the right thing, and understanding others. It premiered on PBS Kids in 1996 and only ended recently last February. Content surrounding the show and its characters, however, will not be ending, as Arthur expands to new formats.
PBS Kids, GBH Kids, production partner Gen-Z Media, and distribution partner PRX are launching The Arthur Podcast in an effort to reach new audiences of kids and nostalgic adult fans. A short video was also released with the annoucement, showing Arthur and his sister learning the ins and outs of making a podcast.
The podcast’s first season will have eight episodes, and will feature retellings of well-known episodes of the show, bringing them into a pure audio format. Beloved characters such as Buster, D.W., and others will make their return for this podcast so everyone can revisit their favorites.
The podcast will release with weekly episodes, starting on Oct. 20. It will be available for listening on the PBS Kids Video app, the Arthur YouTube channel, pskids.org, and any major podcast platform.
