Get a clue! Blue’s Clues first hit our TVs in 1996, introducing kids to an inquisitive, blue dog named Blue and her human friend, Steve (who just went viral in a video explaining why he abruptly left the show in the early 2000s: He went to college!). Nickelodeon is celebrating 25 years of the preschool series with several announcements, including an original movie on the way, a nostalgic music video, a TV event, consumer products, and more.
The not-yet-titled Blue’s Clues & You! movie will follow Blue and the show’s current host Josh as they head to New York City to audition for a Broadway musical. In addition, Blue’s Clues & You! actor Josh Dela Cruz will join former Blue’s Clues hosts, Donovan Patton and Steve Burns, for a nostalgic music video. Burns will direct the video and real-life fans from various generations will also make appearances.
Fans can also expect two Blue’s Clues & You! TV events this fall. Blue’s Clues & You! “It’s YOUR birthday!” will premiere on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT). In the episode, Blue and her friends are celebrating the viewer at home’s birthday. DJ Slip will spin the tracks, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper will bake a cake, and everyone will play Blue’s Clues to figure out what game Blue wants to play at the party. Blue and her friends will also play Pin the Tail on the Puppy and skidoo to Birthday World to gather prizes to fill a birthday piñata. Blue’s Clues & You! “Our New Neighbor” will premiere on Friday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT) with the return of the classic character Periwinkle. Josh and Blue play Blue’s Clues to figure out how they can help Periwinkle feel welcome and learn more about their new kitten neighbor while helping him unpack and even skidooing to his old neighborhood to retrieve his missing stuffie.
The first half (12 episodes) of Blue’s Clues & You! season one and the fifth and sixth seasons (40 episodes) of Blue’s Clues will debut on Paramount+ this month, joining the first four seasons of Blue’s Clues and seasons one and two of the live-action spin-off Blue’s Room. Kids can play along with Josh and Blue in more than 20 learning games, ebooks, and interactive episodes on Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers.
Fans can keep their eyes peeled for a new assortment of consumer products inspired by Blue’s Clues & You!, including toys, home goods, accessories, DVDs, and party goods. The Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts in Riviera Maya will feature Blue character meet and greets, a sculpture in the Aqua Nick water park, themed merchandise, and themed graphics throughout the property. Blue character appearances will also take place at the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana.
Nickelodeon has also expanded its partnership with Save the Children, an organization that helps kids prepare for and succeed in school across the U.S. through special learning opportunities and educational materials. Save the Children and Nickelodeon are also partnering for the net’s second annual Blue Friday, a day of giving and learning that centers around supporting early learning opportunities for kids in need this holiday season.
