Everybody, freeze! Hands where I can see ’em. Now you’re all getting handcuffed—to each other. Good luck breaking free.

On trend with the escape room phenomenon, Break Free, from  Yulu, is a two- to four-player action packed game in which players ages 6 and up will embark on a super secret spy mission. The game comes with four sets of plastic handcuffs, which players will each attach to one wrist, leaving their other hand free to pick the lock. The handcuffs each have a long chain attached so that all players can be locked together. Sorry folks, you’re stuck with each other.

But wait! 🎶 This is the part when I break free, cause I can’t resist it no more. 🎶

Grab that lock pick and get the heck outta dodge, like any true spy would. All you have to do is race to get through the “maze” located within each lock first, in order to set yourself free. Are you up for the Break Free challenge?

There are three different settings of mazes—easy (green), intermediate (yellow), and advanced (red) so pick your poison and insert the little circular maze into the lock on the handcuffs. Race to find your way through the maze by rotating the key left, right, up, and down until you hear the sweet click of freedom as the shackles pop open.

Once you’ve unlocked the cuffs, collect the coin from the table with the highest number and corresponding to the color of the maze your handcuff has. When the last player is done, the round is over. Next, you can try a more advanced level to bump up your spy skills.

At the end of the game, add up the points on your victory coins you’ve collected in the three rounds, and the player with the highest amount of points is the winner.

There are tons of different ways to play—if you only have two players, you can each put the handcuffs on both wrists for double trouble, or you can make it a one player game and put the handcuffs on both your wrists and ankles, or play as teams and try to unlock your partner’s handcuffs faster than your rivals. You can even try breaking free with your non-dominant hand for some added difficulty. There are 12 mazes in total so try again and again to master them all.

Bow down to the escape artist extraordinaire. And congrats: Now, you know how to pick a lock.
