Breyer is releasing a whole herd of new horses! | Source: Breyer

Breyer, best known for its model horses, is bringing new additions to the stable for 2023.

The company recently released its 2022 Breyer Retired List, but luckily for any kids in a horse phase, Breyer has also now released the new horses that will join the herd. The company is adding some traditional horses, some more holiday and limited-edition horses, and new additions to the Freedom Series, Stablemates, and Mini Whinnies collections.

The newest traditional horses celebrate famous racers, a painting subject, and others that have hooved their way into horse history. The Ideal Series — Appaloosa is based on art by Orren Mixer, famous for his horse paintings. Sweetwater’s Zora Belle was a driving champion and represented the U.S. at the 2019 FEI Combined Driving Pony World Championships in Hungary.

ATP Power was a barrel racer ridden by Amberley Snyder who had her story captured in the film Walk. Ride. Rodeo. Ebony Shines and Charlize features mother Ebony Shines and her filly Charlize. RD Marciea Bey competed at halter and is a lovely shade of brown. Finishing off the traditional horses is a horse everyone knows: The 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Secretariat celebrates the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown win, and features the racing horse in all gold.

The holiday and limited-edition horses are bringing decorative cheer to the table. Highlander has a warm winter blanket decorated with snowflakes. Spectre has a coat designed by artist Lauren Hoeffer, and is covered in ghosts, looking ready for Halloween. Mariposa and Flor are an Arabian mare mother and new colt, adorably uncertain on its legs.

The Freedom Series is getting six new breeds and colors, truly expanding the collection potential. Wild & Free features a foal with a Mustang stallion. The Western Horse and Rider are updated with a new look. For a little bit of magic, Lysander is a lovely unicorn. Effortless Grace has an Appaloosa mare and a foal. And Neapolitan is adorably designed after Neapolitan ice cream.

Stablemates is also getting new horses in its set. The Poetry in Motion Gift Set will feature four horses in movement with different coat colors. The Sparkling Splendor Deluxe Unicorn Collection features six unicorns with a metallic, magical sheen.

The Mini Whinnies have a fun mystery box element, with the Mini Whinnies Barn Surprise and Mini Whinnies Castle Surprise both containing a random horse or unicorn model.

The new horses (and unicorns!) will be available to purchase on the Breyer website, as well as any local stores carrying Breyer, early this year.
