Aza Wu knows that real magic is dangerous and illegal — it was responsible for the death of her sister — but she also knows she must do whatever she can to save the teahouse her family has owned for centuries, Wu Teas.

That’s where Caster, a novel by Elsie Chapman, starts a magical adventure for young readers and now the journey is heading to the silver screen. A film adaptation will be produced by Akiva Goldsman — who won an Oscar for the Best Adapted Screenplay of A Beautiful Mind — of Weed Road Pictures, as well as people representing Scholastic Entertainment, and Josephson Entertainment.

The story is currently a two-book series that takes readers on a thrilling adventure with twists and turns at every corner. Aza Wu is the protagonist and heroine, and she’ll do whatever she can to help her family — even if that means entering underground casting tournaments with fierce competitors.

Nicole Savas

As a kid, Nicole either wanted to be a professional toy player-wither or a writer. Somehow, as social media editor for The Toy Insider, The Toy Book, and The Pop Insider, she’s found a career as both. She's grateful to work somewhere that she can fully embrace both her love of teddy bears and her admiration for the Oxford comma. When she's not playing with toys at work, she's playing with her baby girl at home.
