Get ready to shift your problem-solving skills into high gear.
Coggy, a strategy puzzle game from Fat Brain Toys, challenges players to shift the gears around to solve puzzles of varying degree of difficulty, and boasts double-sided play, brain-building skills, and hours of fidgety fun.
The objective of Coggy is simple: Players must shift Coggy’s circles into the correct shape and pattern until it matches the challenge card they are solving. There are four level of challenges: easy, medium, hard, and extra hard. Each level has challenges that are both in color and in black and white. The color challenges call out a specific pattern and a few colored wheels that must be in the exact place. (Blank circles can be filled in with any color, as long as the pattern is correct!)
For the black and white puzzles, kids flip Coggy over and play the same exact same way, except the white circles are no longer wild on the card, but represent the white cogs. When the black and white puzzles are finished, the pattern and colors match up exactly. The black and white puzzles tend to be slightly more challenging, but that is because the solution needs to be exact. To really up the level of gameplay, players should advance to a harder level in the challenge book.
What makes Coggy different from other logic games is that the pieces are always connected, and players have to fidget with it as one solid piece to make it work. It gives you all the satisifaction of a fidget toy at your desk, but with so many challenging puzzles, it can keep players busy for a long time. Because it doesn’t consist of a bunch of different puzzle pieces, and only contains the toy sand the challenge book, Coggy makes a great travel game because kids can play on the go. Plus, it’s small enough to fit inside of a bag, so it doesn’t take up much room when you’re packing.
