Connect 4 Spin from Hasbro turns the classic favorite upside down for a strategic game of weights and balances.

Kids ages 8 and up can compete to connect four pieces on a game unit, but unlike the original version of Connect 4, these discs will not drop or move once kids insert them. Players secure their disc into a spot on the column and then spin the column. Each player gets 20 discs, including a weighted one. Players can use this weighted disc strategically, as it will make half of the column heavier and ensure that side will always be at the bottom, even after someone spins it. Check out the video below to see the weighted disc in action.

The game has two different modes for varying skill levels. In beginner mode, players can place four discs anywhere on the grid with the option of connecting through the center axis. For kids who want more of a challenge, expert mode allows four discs in either the top or bottom half of the grid, but players cannot connect them through the center axis. Both game modes require kids to think strategically to make the best moves because once the column spins, players may lose the progress they were working toward.

Players will take turns placing their discs into the column and spinning the entire column at least two full rotations. This makes the player’s decision of where to place their discs more challenging because of the possibility the disc will land on the wrong side of the column and jeopardize their chance to connect four! Whoever connects their discs in a row of four either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally is the winner.

This new spinning feature gives kids a fresh take on the game, and the rules are simple so families won’t get frustrated while trying to learn how to play. Parents will also enjoy the nostalgic factor of a game they grew up with that they can now share with their kids. The new gameplay and the option of choosing a skill level keeps families engaged and makes it more interactive than most board games.
