Science just got a touch more colorful with a new Crayola experience at The Franklin Institute, a science and technology museum in Philadelphia.

Crayola IDEAworks: The Creativity Exhibition opened last weekend as an immersive and interactive experience featuring colorful activities that challenge the imagination. Guests can explore more than 150 physical and digital inquiry-based experiences in the IDEA Workshop, the Colorverse, and a grand finale.

The IDEA Workshop puts creativity to the test with challenges, questions, and puzzles that sharpen guests’ existing skills. The exhibition’s name, Crayola IDEAworks, is made from the acronym: I for identify, D for define, E for explore, and A for assess, which outlines the design thinking process. The workshop contains four different sections, one for each letter.

When guests enter the Colorverse, they can travel to the City of Crayopolis, the Mars Station, and the curiosity-bending SeaBase to put their IDEA skills into action using scientific research and discovery. The activities include growing food on Mars, restoring a coral reef ecosystem, and building a sustainable neighborhood. As guests leave the experience, they will receive a customized summary that highlights the creative strengths learning during their adventure.
