Cupcake Digital Inc. and Discovery Communications introduce Discovery Kids Dinosaur Puzzle & Play, a new app that lets kids play and learn about a wide range of dinosaurs that once roamed the Earth. Geared toward young explorers under the age of 5, kids complete puzzles in easy, medium, or hard levels in order to unlock animations and facts about each species.
As both a dinosaur lover and a puzzle lover, I found this app to be both educational and fun. The different levels of the puzzle allow for kids of all age levels to get engaged. The app is simple, easily accessible for the age range that it is intended for, but also full of great facts, problem-solving skills, and helpful hints. One of my favorite features is that the app reads the facts out loud, highlighting each word. After the fact is read, kids can touch each word to hear it read, and learn to read them for themselves.
Another great feature of this app is the coloring mode. Using the interactive format of Dinosaur Puzzle & Play, kids can get creative through coloring pages that feature fascinating, prehistoric creatures. The app keeps kids coloring in the line, but provides a huge variety of different colors and coloring tools for kids to express their creativity on each page.
The best part about this app is all the educational content, which is expected when it is co-branded with the Discovery Kids name. Kids can spend hours building puzzles in different skill levels, learning about fascinating dinosaurs, activating the animations on the completed puzzle screen, and coloring pages of their new prehistoric friends.
