Who wouldn’t want a house with a slide, a swing, a pool, and a room dedicated to rocking out? The interactive Rock & Slide House playset from Hape has all of this and more.

The doll house, which is designed for kids ages 3 and up, is a sturdy set made almost entirely of wood. The two-story house features eight different rooms, including a bedroom, a bathroom, a music room, a pet space, a yard, a pool, a kitchen, and a TV room. The colorful house comes with a TON of accessories and furniture, including instruments, beds, kitchenware, a dog, and a cat. The set also includes two highly poseable dolls. With all of these elements included, kids will get plenty of play value out of the house without any additional purchases.

The house is also a great size. It’s not so big that it will take up a massive footprint in kids’ bedrooms or playrooms, but it’s certainly spacious and maximizes that space well. The set offers a 360-degree design, which means that kids can see and access rooms of the house no matter which side they are on. This, combined with the multiple dolls and pets, makes the house a great option for siblings to share or for playdate fun.

One additional feature that makes this set stand out is its sound effects. Throughout the top level of the house, there are nine touchpoints that activate sounds and/or music. There’s no need to push buttons to trigger these effects — if kids’ hands or the dolls’ feet directly pass over one of the touch points, they will hear the corresponding sound. The sounds are all related to the rooms they are in, such as draining water and a flushing toilet in the bathroom or movie music in the TV room.

The easy-to-use effects provide an innovative sense of realism when kids play with the house. Of course, it’s also possible to turn off these effects if you are hoping for quieter play. Even without the sounds, this house is packed with fun features and encourages imaginative play.

One important thing to note is that this set does require adult assembly. You will only need a screwdriver to assemble it, and the instructions are fairly straightforward and image-based, not unlike what you’d get for building Ikea furniture. The assembly may seem daunting at first glance, but ultimately it is only six steps. You just want to make sure to pay attention and line up the pieces correctly before screwing them in. This ensures that the sounds will match up appropriately and that the house will be structurally sound. When properly assembled, this set is incredibly sturdy, which makes the building time more than worth it.

Overall, the Rock & Slide House is a well-designed doll house that is sure to offer hours of fun, creative play!
