Fat Brain Toys‘ new logic game is the bee’s knees.
To start out, players choose one of the 40 challenge cards to try to solve. The challenge cards are broken down into four different levels—Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Each challenge card shows players which pieces they’ll need to solve the puzzle, and whether or not they can use the Bee Blockers. Once the player chooses the challenge card, he or she places it on the top of the pile inside the hive, and gets ready to solve!
Players then try to arrange the different colored pieces on top of the puzzle card so that the numbers grouped together by each piece add up to seven. All of the pieces must be used, and they must fit inside the parameters of the given challenge.
The Bee Blockers come in handy when the piece is covering numbers that add up to more than seven. In this case, kids can place a Bee Blocker on top of the extra number to bring the total down. Although the game is designed as a single player game, it takes a lot of strategy and spacial reasoning, so kids on the younger side may enjoy solving it with a buddy.
This game is great for keeping kids busy, since they can play on their own. It also challenges them to stay focused, solve problems, form patterns, and more. The challenges get increasingly harder as they go on, so it’s definitely a game that can grow with kids as they improve. Plus, it’s packed with great critical thinking and logic skills that help kids exercise their brains.
The game stores neatly inside of the hives, and even comes with a little storage bag for all of the colored pieces, making it an easy game to take on the go.
