You know those people who turn their entire birthday month into a party? Pokémon is doing them one better with an entire year worth of celebrations for the brand’s 25th anniversary.
The latest announcement in the string of celebrations is a new single and music video from Katy Perry, with a helping hand from Pikachu. The song is called “Electric” and Perry created the track for Pokémon 25: The Album, which is releasing this fall from Universal Music Group’s Capitol Records.
Carlos Lopez Estrada, the director of Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon, helped work on the video, which is out now. Both Perry and Pikachu look back on younger versions of themselves to reflect on how they have evolved over the years. In the video, fans get a look at the earlier days of Perry’s career as she goes from busking at a farmer’s market to a big talent show performance. The video was shot in Hawaii. Fans can also find a limited-edition collection of “Electric” merchandise here.
The Pokémon Co. also teamed up with singer Post Malone earlier this year for a free, virtual concert. Fans can presave the upcoming P25 Music compilation album here.
