The Minions are back for even more mayhem!

Long before the events of Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, 12-year-old Gru tried to turn his dream of becoming the world’s greatest supervillain into a reality. Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru tells the origin story of how Gru first met the iconic Minions and forged his path to finally fulfill his dream.

With the help of the Minions, Gru creates his first lair and weapons, and tries to execute his first missions. Along the way, he attempts to become the newest member of the Vicious 6, the infamous supervillain group. When he outsmarts their leader — legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles — his despicable crew must face off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled.

In the newest trailer, the Minions (somewhat) successfully fly an airplane and we are introduced to Gru’s mom, who karate kicks Stuart through several trees. Check out the third official trailer below, and then join Gru and the Minions in their adventures when Minions: The Rise of Gru premieres in theaters on July 1.
