Folkmanis.SeaSerpent

Growing up, one of my favorite parts of playtime was pretend play (at the expense of my older sister). I loved dreaming up of all types of scenarios and acting them out in real life. Folkmanis hand puppets give pretend play a whole new meaning, and are some of the best for today’s kids who just want some classic, unplugged play. The mythical creature collection is made up of the Winged Dragon, Sea Serpent, and Dragon in a Turret.

These plush puppets are of the highest quality, and kids and adults alike will naturally gravitate to them. The fabric, textures, and designs used to make them were thoughtfully chosen to make the best play experience for kids. Not only are they so much fun to play with, but they also are beautiful for display on beds or dressers when playtime is over. Plus, one of my favorite parts of the North American International Toy Fair in New York City is visiting the Folkmanis booth and seeing the puppeteers bring all of their products to life.

These mythical dragons are easy to animate, and come to life uniquely—each puppet moves in its own way. They are ideal for any kind of puppet shows, storytelling, teaching, and more. My favorite parts about the puppets is that they each have a tag with a tiny story printed on it. This gives kids a little tale about their new friend before they even think of one on their own, which can inspire their imaginations to think of so much more. The stories are adopted from legends and folklore from different countries.

The Winged Dragon has is a gorgeous green color and soft, red wings. Your hand controls its mouth, arms, and wings of this playful dragon puppet. I love being able to move the wings of this dragon because you can actually make him pretend that he’s flying. The Sea Serpent is a gigantic 22 inches wide and is everything you would want an underwater magical creature to look like. His blue scales shimmer in the light, has fuzzy blue fur along his spine, and a silly red tongue sticking out of his mouth. Kids can place him to wrap around their shoulders.

Last—probably my favorite out of the three—is the Dragon in a Turret. This small, metallic, purple dragon has a unicorn-like horn and lives in its little tower, which looks like a medieval castle. You can use your hands to open and close his mouth, move his arms, and make him pop inside and out of his turret. Your hand controls the mouth and arms of this playful dragon puppet as he goes in and out of hiding inside of his castle.

Nothing else can be missing from an imaginative world of knights in shining armor and princesses locked in towers than gorgeous dragon puppets. Folkmanis also offers a whole range of hand puppets, including animals and other mythical creatures.
