Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 4 VR Kit

Cardboard meets VR meets STEM meets fun in Nintendo’s latestNintendo Labo innovation: Toy-Con 4 VR Kit. Now, kids ages 7 and up can experience virtual reality in a fun, hands-on way.

With this kit, kids become video game developers who will learn about the inner workings of virtual reality as they follow the simple instructions to build their own VR goggles and Toy-Con controllers. While kids will enjoy building on their own, the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 4 is designed to get the entire family involved, putting a spin on typical family game night.

The DIY set has 32 cardboard sheets with all the necessary pieces to build six Toy-Con creations: VR goggles, a blaster, a camera, an elephant, a bird, and a wind pedal. The included Nintendo Switch software guides players through easy-to-follow steps to fold and combine the Toy-Con pieces, using the VR lenses, gray and yellow grommets and washers, and rubber bands along with reflective, red, and sponge stickers.

Once the building is complete, players slip the Nintendo Switch into the VR goggles and the left and right Joy-Con controllers into the Toy-Con to embark on several missions, such as saving the world from an alien invasion, diving into the ocean to photograph sea creatures, creating 3-D masterpieces in an art museum, and building obstacle courses. Players can find 64 more games in the VR Plaza or program their own in the VR Garage.

Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 4 is designed for endless fun with multiple ways to play solo or with the entire family. Although it takes some time to build each Toy-Con, a game follows their completion. The thick cardboard is sturdy and retains the shape to last through for hours of being passed around from player to player. It is also strong enough to hold the Nintendo Switch gaming system once players slide it into the Toy-Con.Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Camera

The VR technology immerses players into a game that looks and feels like real life. Each Toy-Con ingeniously incorporates lifelike elements, like the clicking of a camera lens zooming in or the gust of wind when you jump. The software seamlessly syncs with the Toy-Con and accurately detects players’ movements. The stunning graphics make players want to continue playing for hours. Because of this, the game reminds them to take breaks before gameplay starts.

Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 4 VR Kit also provides kids with several in-depth STEM lessons while they play. It introduces them to video game programming and explains how virtual reality works in a way that is easily understood for children and fun to learn, with cute and funny characters leading the lessons. This approach allows children to boost their strategizing and problem solving skills while using their creativity.

For $79.99, learning meets endless possibilities for fun in actual and virtual reality with the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 4 VR Kit.
