Rockin’ Dice, from University Games, brings color, counting, and fun to game night. Designed for two to four players ages 8 and up, the game helps kids with counting skills and quick thinking.
Each player randomly picks dice out of the included bag (dice should always be split evenly between players, but varies depending on how many players there are) and places the dice into his or her cup. Players race to place their dice on the game board, matching the color and number of each die to that on the game board. However, all dice must be placed in ascending order, for example, a yellow two cannot be placed before the yellow one. If a player is unable to place any more dice, he or she must reroll all of his or her remaining dice. Once a player places his or her last die, gameplay stops. The dice not placed by other players cause them to lose points, while the winner will gain points for the unplaced dice.
Rockin’ Dice is full of fast-paced fun, and adults will be challenged right along with kids. This game is one that has a few stealth-learning features, meaning the educational aspects of the game are hidden underneath playtime fun. Kids will learn to count, will sharpen their quick-thinking skills, and will also learn how to tabulate points. The game can be played in a matter of minutes, making it perfect for parents who don’t have a lot of time spare time to dedicate to playing. The box is compact for easy storage, and the rules are very easy to understand, so kids a bit younger than 8 may also be able to join in on the fun.
