Being an active, engaged community member can make kids of all ages feel a sense of belonging and empowerment — and Sesame Workshop just launched new resources to help make that happen!

There are several new videos, worksheets, and articles that discuss the importance of community with friends from Sesame Street. Parents can use these resources to highlight how people should help others, be kind, and work together. Kids can learn about the value of teamwork and how it can positively impact communities, families, and the environment with help from Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and more!

Available in English and Spanish, the new line of resources includes the YouTube video “A Garden of Support,” where Abby and her family work together to clean a community garden, and “Little Helpers, Big Helping,” which features Abby and Maggie as their aid makes a big difference to a tiny Twiddlebug family. You can also play “Helping at Home, Helping the Neighborhood,” where Julia, Elena, and more clean containers for the community center.

If your kids are past their allotted screen time, they can complete six different printable activities such as Helping and Caring, Community Garden Clean-Up, Community Connections, and Playground Helpers. Kids can complete a checklist, color, follow prompts, connect the dots, and more while learning about helping others.

These resources highlight how you can solve issues as a team, identify ways that kids can truly make a difference, and showcase that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact. The new line of recourses joins the current offerings under the Little Neighbors: Building a Better World Together initiative. You can find each resource at sesameworkshop.com!
