We grew up watching and loving Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Now, our favorite free-spirited horse is galloping back to the big screen in DreamWorks Animation’s new feature film, Spirit Untamed!
This animated adventure invites kids to bend the rules a bit to find their independent “spirits.” Lucky Prescott (voiced by Isabela Merced) puts her luck to the test when she meets the wild Mustang, Spirit, and together they make one fearless team. Watch the trailer below.
In the film, Lucky’s late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza González), was a fearless, horse-riding stunt performer. When Aunt Cora (Julianne More) tires of Lucky’s inherited wild streak, she moves Lucky back with her father, Jim (Jake Gyllenhaal), in the sleepy town of Miradero. It’s there that she meets the fellow fire-hearted Spirit and two other horseback riders. When an evil horseback rider threatens to wrangle and take Spirit captive, Lucky and her friends embark on a daring adventure to rescue Spirit. Along the way, Lucky discovers the power of friendship, purpose, and heritage.
Spirit Untamed is directed by Elaine Bogan and produced by Karen Foster of How to Train Your Dragon fame. The film is set to release on June 4.
