If you’ve got a little artist in your house, their creativity is about to pay off. The Spirograph National Art Contest kicks off today, giving kids the opportunity to have their Spirograph art featured at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, and win other prizes.
Kids ages 4 and up can create an original design using any Spirograph edition and parents can enter on their behalf between March 1-31 for a chance to win. Artists are encouraged to add their own personal touch to their Spirograph designs with color or other added materials.
Spirograph was first created in 1965, originally developed by a British mechanical engineer. PlayMonster now makes Spirograph toys that kids can use to create spiraling designs.
A panel of judges will choose six winning designs to display at the museum on World Art Day (April 15), and winners will also receive an exclusive Spirograph Retrospective prize pack from PlayMonster and a $400 Michael’s gift card.
Michael’s craft supplies stores across the U.S. are also hosting a free Spirograph event on Saturday, March 26, from 2-4 p.m. EST. Attendees will be able to test various Spirograph products and participate in a demo to learn Spirograph tips and tricks.
