Most desserts are known for their sweet deliciousness, but others are best known for the adorable toys named after them.

While some may start salivating at the mention of strawberry shortcake, others are washed over with nostalgia with the thought of the sweet-smelling doll. Strawberry Shortcake and her friends have gotten a few makeovers over the last three decades, but The Bridge Direct has brought back their original outfits and packaging as classic dolls and rag dolls.

Celebrating her 35th anniversary in 2015, Strawberry Shortcake came back reproduced in retro packaging and with all the details of her original design as a rag doll. Her outfit, smile and hair are all the same as they were when she was introduced in 1980.

And, most importantly, she smells like the comforting sweet scent of berries every time she’s cuddled closely. The rag dolls are as soft and cuddly as they look, but there’s something about their vintage look that made me want to avoid ruffling the yarn hair. Raspberry Tart and Lemon Meringue have also reappeared in their rag doll form.

The little six-inch classic dolls also made a comeback with Strawberry Shortcake and Raspberry Tart along with Blueberry Muffin. The smaller dolls include the same retro boxes as the rag dolls and are just as adorable. There are even three little holes in the packaging to allow for a sneak sniff of their recognizable aroma.

Both the classic dolls and the rag dolls seem to be tailored to new fans of Strawberry Shortcake, as well as collectors. The boxes have the perfect window to display the dolls and showcase the vine-ripened background.

Whether kids are looking for cute new friends, or adults are looking to replace some of the toys of their childhood, the classic dolls and rag dolls of Strawberry Shortcake seem to be made for everyone to enjoy.
