Traveling with kids, whether a short trip to Grandma’s or a four-hour flight to a far-off destination, can be stressful for both the parents and the kids. Kids simply aren’t built for sitting still and being patient. A good “bag of tricks,” as I like to refer to it, is a necessity.

However, we don’t always have the time to run around building a solid bag of tricks before taking off. That’s where Fun on the Fly comes in. Fun on the Fly LLC builds travel activity bags that are essentially pre-made backpacks of toys, games, and activities designed to keep kids ages 3 to 5 entertained on the go.

FunontheFlyI love that the packs are filled with products from specialty toy manufacturers, such as Wikki Stix from Omnicor, Connectagons from Hearth Song, and On the Go Water Wow! coloring pad from Melissa & Doug. The Pack I received is a well-rounded mix of creative crafts, building, drawing, finger puppets, card games and more.

My favorite part are the wrapped items labeled “Surprise Inside” and “Top Secret, Save for Later!” These items are sure to be ripped open immediately by most kids, but add that extra element of fun and excitement to the trip.

::SPOILER ALERT:: My surprise was an adorable wind-up caterpillar, and my top secret envelope included an activity book, stickers, stamp, crayons, and more.

Final verdict: Fun on the Fly’s packs come in a variety of sizes, and are enough fun to keep a couple of kids busy for a good while.
