What time is it? Time to get your kids a smartwatch!
The kid-friendly X6Play smartwatch from Xplora will receive a Best of Innovation award at CES 2023, a consumer electronic show hosted by the Consumer Technology Association. The event takes place this January in Las Vegas, but the honorees were announced beforehand.
Xplora is a European tech company that makes smartwatches for kids in addition to offering other software and services. The X6Play is the newest product in Xplora’s collection of smartwatches, designed to act as a first cell phone for kids between the ages of 4-11 while still giving kids a balance between screen time and physical activity.
The new design features a high-resolution 1.5-inch screen with faster response times, an imrpoved 5MP camera for photos and videos, and improved battery life so kids can wear the watch for days before it needs a recharge. Kids can use the interchangeable wristbands and bezels to create personalized looks. The X6Play has a restricted contact list, a school mode in which parents can disable notifications, safe zones to alert parents when kids exit a pre-programmed area, and no access to the internet or social media.
The watch will be available for purchase soon, but until then, parents can check out Xplora’s other smartwatches — the X5 Play and the XGO3. Both models are on sale for Black Friday for $129.99 each, now through Nov. 28. Find out more on shop.myxplora.com.
