Get ready to light the torch!
Mattel’s here with a new product collection spanning several of its brands to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo later this year, including new Barbie, Hot Wheels, and UNO toys. The international product line will showcase the new sports — baseball/softball, sport climbing, karate, skateboarding, and surfing — that will now be part of the games.
“Tokyo 2020 is a monumental event that brings the world together through sport and inspires fans of all ages,” said Janet Hsu, chief franchise officer of Mattel, in a statement. “The Mattel Tokyo 2020 Collection honors these sports and inspires a new generation through the Olympic spirit and outstanding athletic tradition.”
A Hot Wheels Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Mini Collection of vehicles will celebrate the iconic sports of the games with die-cast vehicles inspired by track and field, gymnastics, swimming, basketball, beach volleyball, baseball/softball, sport climbing, karate, skateboarding, and surfing. Two cars in the collection will also depict Worldwide Olympic Partner Toyota’s ’10 Toyota Tundra and Toyota 2000 GT vehicles.
Additionally, a Barbie Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 collection will embrace the five new sports in new dolls, and a limited-edition UNO deck includes a unique design and special rule fitting. The product lines will roll out this spring.
