Kids can discover actual treasure while they learn with a fun, new kit from Blue Marble!
The National Geographic Break Open 10 Geodes Set comes with everything kids need to spark their curiosity in these natural crystals. The set includes — you guessed it — 10 geodes for kids to break open, display stands, and safety goggles, as well as a Geodes Learning Guide.
To break them open, kids simply safety-goggle-up, then give the geodes a sharp tap with a hammer (you can use your household hammer — the set does not include one!). We highly recommend adult supervision here, of course, but the geodes break open fairly easily, so kids won’t be wildly hacking away at the stones for long periods of time. The kit is designed for kids ages 8 and up, but your younger ones might need some help from a grown up to break open the geodes.
Kids can then check out the very cool crystal creations inside — whether it’s the beautiful, clean-looking white calcite or any of the other sparkling varieties. They can then delve into the learning guide to learn more about what they’re seeing for a full educational experience.
Since they are genuine gemstones, kids can they display them once they are all cleaned up! These crystal geodes have always been cool decor pieces — I remember growing up in our household, we had a big one on display — and now kids can have their own small versions to show off. Plus, there are 10 to break open, so kids will have fun with this “natural” surprise reveal experience.
If you’ve got curious, budding archaeologists or kids who are just looking to dig up a little sparkle, the National Geographic Break Open 10 Geodes Set is the perfect balance of learning and fun.
