The Cat in the Hat has always been a great teacher for kids and now he’s taking their education up a notch with a new series of multi-subject Dr. Seuss Workbooks.

Random House Children’s Books is partnering with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to design the workbooks for students in preschool through third grade. The preschool and kindergarten editions will launch on Sept. 7, just in time for back-to-school season. The editions for first, second, and third graders will launch on March 1 of next year.

The workbooks were developed and written by education experts and are based on curriculum standards for maximum educational value. The books will introduce readers to four subjects, each with their own dedicated Dr. Seuss character ambassador guiding the way. The Cat in the Hat will help teach kids reading and English language learning, Thing One and Thing Two will guide kids in math, the Lorax will become a science teacher, and Horton from Horton Hears a Who! Will help kids explore social-emotional learning.

The Grade 1 workbook will cover key first-grade skills, including vowels and consonants, sounding out words, counting to 100, measurement units, anatomy, and kindness. The Grade 2 workbook will focus on independent reading, nonfiction, advanced addition and subtraction, the scientific process, and respecting others.
