Diary of a Wimpy Kid first debuted almost 15 years ago, but the tales of Greg Heffley are still going strong. In fact, the book is getting an animated retelling, with a new movie that’s heading to Disney+ this holiday season.
In anticipation of the new movie, there is a new edition of Diary of a Wimpy Kid hitting shelves on Nov. 23. This hardcover version from Abrams features a new cover (pictured above) that shows Greg Heffley and Rowley Jefferson as they will appear in the movie.
For those who are unfamiliar with this book series, it follows the story of Greg — a scrawny middle schooler who has big dreams — from the perspective of his journal. The upcoming movie adaptation isn’t the first for these popular books, which also inspired a series of live-action movies in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2017.
In addition to the new version of the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid, author Jeff Kinney is still publishing new books in the Wimpy Kid series of illustrated novels. The 16th book, Big Shot, is publishing on Oct. 26. To celebrate, Kinney is going on “The Big Shot Drive-Thru Tour,” which will offer a series of socially distanced, drive-through events in the Southeast.
