The Lite-Brite Super Bright HD Disney100 Edition Is Magically Bright, No Pixie Dust Required

For kids, creating something on your own is a great feeling — and it feels even better when your creation glows! Kids can express their creativity through a classic toy like a Lite-Brite, but with the Lite-Brite Super Bright HD Disney100 set from Basic Fun, their designs will shine brighter than ever before.

The creative set comes with 12 high-definition templates featuring iconic Disney and Pixar characters like Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbelle, Woody and Buzz, Dumbo, Ariel, Donald, and more. Kids simply stick the pegs in and press the power button to see the character shine! The templates act as art guides, so your little one just needs to match the color of the peg to the color on the template. This can be a fun, relaxing way to teach your kid about primary colors, how to match items, and how to follow guidelines. They can use the peg tool to place the pegs in, but it’s very easy to just use bare hands. Either way, the act will refine their fine motor skills.

Sticking each peg into the Super Brite HD Unit can be time-consuming. If your kid follows through until the last peg of the Disney-themed artwork, they have spent a lot of time with the toy. It also might take them some time to remove each peg after completing a picture, prolonging the time spent with one toy (so, you’ll get your money’s worth). 

If they aren’t able to focus that long, however, you can challenge them to attack the art from different directions, only use a certain color first, or even create their own design. You don’t need the templates to make a picture; kids have creative freedom to make whatever they want using the pegs and unit, no template needed.

While it is exciting to create your own art, the fun doesn’t end once all the pegs are in place. There are four different light modes, so your family can proudly display the artwork in several ways. The steady light mode brightens the entire display, bounce mode bounces the light around in a diagonal motion, flash mode flashes the light throughout the pegs, and circle provides lights in a circular motion. Plus, you can use the stand on the back to display your kid’s Disney art!

The unit turns off after five minutes, but you can hold the power button to keep it lit as long as you’d like. So, the Lite-Brite could double as a night light or party decoration. Keep in mind that the unit is battery or micro-USB powered (batteries and USB cord not included), so it might need a charge the next morning. 

The toy is designed for kids ages 6 and up, but younger siblings might enjoy looking at the lights and creating something on their own. However, the pegs are small and could potentially be consumed by accident, so watch your younger kid carefully. The unit is also sturdy — it can take some tosses and turns. If a younger sibling attempts to snatch it, you won’t find a trail of pegs as they remain in the holes even when turned upside down.
