Grab your lab coats and get ready to experiment!

The Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab from Learning Resources is an educational twist on the trend of mystery figurine collectibles. Kids get to uncover their “Beaker Creature” figures while learning about science.

The set, designed for kids ages 5 and up, comes with two Beaker Creature pods, two beakers, tongs, and a lab that needs a bit of set up. Younger children may need an adult’s help to attach the lab’s tubes properly.

Kids can place a brightly colored reactor pod, which contains a Beaker Creature, inside the main chamber of the lab. Be sure to place the reactor pod gently so that it doesn’t crack open. To set the Beaker Creature free, fill the syringes with water, lock the syringes into their spots on the lab base, and plunge the water into the chamber. Then sit back and watch as the water reacts with the dissolving pod and fizzes up. Look out—the colorful fizz may even bubble over!

Once the pod is dissolved, kids can rescue their fantastical, collectible creature from the bubbles. The lab includes identification cards that will give the name of and other information about the creature.

Although the set only comes with two of the 35 available creatures, additional pods are sold separately. The set also provides replay value by including instructions for four additional experiments, three of which utilize the full lab set. By using food coloring and baby oil (not included), kids can learn about science by combining colors, mixing water and oil, and creating whirlpools.

After using the lab, be sure to clean up well by disassembling the lab and washing the parts with warm water and soap.

Even when the lab is put away, kids can enjoy identifying, playing with, and collecting the miniature creatures!
