Update: This casting call is from 2019 and is now CLOSED.
If you have a budding performer at home, there is now a legitimate shot at getting them in front of casting directors at Disney Channel.
Disney Channel launched an open casting call for kids and teens. Actors must be able to play kids ages 8-16 years old, and all video auditions must be submitted via the official Disney Channel casting website. To give you an idea of what the folks at Disney will be looking for, check out the above video featuring Disney Channel stars Issac Ryan Brown (Raven’s Home) and Kylie Cantrall (Gabby Duran & The Unsittables).
“In our ongoing efforts to reach a broader pool of talent across the U.S., our digital open casting call allows parents whose kids aspire to be actors the opportunity to submit their child’s audition right from where they live,” says Judy Taylor, senior vice president of casting and talent relations at Disney Channel. “This also gives Disney Channel a chance to potentially discover fresh, young, and diverse talent who may not yet have agency representation.”
For many years, Disney Channel has had to publish disclaimers on social media to combat certain unscrupulous organizations that promote so-called “casting calls” — usually at malls and hotels — touting chances to get kids seen by scouts, agents, and casting directors. As many parents know, those events usually amount to disappointment and unnecessary expense.
It’s important to note that Disney Channel is not affiliated with any acting school or acting workshop and will never require a fee to audition.
The open casting call runs through Dec. 31, 2019. There is no guarantee of employment and all video auditions must be submitted by a parent or guardian.
