The Kansas City Royals and The Royal Foundation’s Royals Literacy League are stepping up to the plate to strike out youth illiteracy. By partnering with the Hidden Pigeon Company, the baseball organization will bring Mo Willems’ beloved books and characters to kids to help spark a love of reading.
This all-star team aims to promote youth literacy for all kids across Kansas City. With this partnership, these companies will make literacy enjoyable and accessible with fun events, activities, and activations.
On April 11, the reading journey begins at Kauffman Stadium as Royal Literacy League schools will engage with Book Club at the Ballpark. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., students, educators, and families will experience a private, on-field reading of The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! by Mo Willems. Attendees will also engage in fun activities, visit local literacy vendor booths, and meet The Pigeon himself!
While Book at the Ball Park is not open to the public, “The Pigeon Night” Theme Night will be. This upcoming literacy event is a special occasion where fans can celebrate their favorite feathered friend and receive a Pigeon bobblehead. Families can meet The Pigeon in person by getting tickets at royals.com/pigeon.
