From the wild tangles of the jungle to the mysterious depths of the ocean, LEGO and National Geographic are teaming up to encourage kids to care for our planet and its creatures.

The Explore the World campaign invites families to learn about our planet while raising awareness about protecting endangered species of the land and sea. Parents and kids can visit lego.com/exploretheworld to read and watch educational content about animal conservation, including stories from six National Geographic Explorers who are working in creative ways to help address real-life problems that our planet is facing.

One example comes from National Geographic Elephant Ecologist Dominique Gonçalves, who shares her personal story about coming up with an innovative solution to stop elephants from eating food from villages in Mozambique. Since elephants are scared of bees, she designed a system of rope fences with beehives attached so the bees could safely turn the elephants away.

Seeing these stories can help kids discover that they can solve many of life’s challenges with creativity. The campaign seeks to encourage kids to come up with their own creative solutions for real-world challenges. The LEGO Group also announced a contribution toward the National Geographic Society to fund grants in ocean exploration and species conservation.

New toys are coming, too! LEGO City and LEGO Friends sets based on real-life settings and animals will encourage kids to explore and learn through play. The sets include the Panda Jungle Tree House (pictured above), the Baby Elephant Jungle Rescue, the Tiger Hot Air Balloon Jungle Rescue, the Jungle Rescue Base, the Ocean Exploration Ship, the Ocean Exploration Base, the Ocean Mini-Submarine, and the Ocean Exploration Submarine, all coming soon.
