If there’s one thing I know, it’s that mamas are incredible. ✨

Moose Toys’ latest addition to its line of Little Live Pets is Mama Surprise: a super-soft mama guinea pig that delivers three babies over the course of a few days!

Arguably one of the worst parts of having a living guinea pig as a pet is habitat maintenance. From the wood shavings to the food and cleanup, the whole process kind of … stinks. But Mama Surprise takes all the fuss out of having a guinea pig, and leaves in all of the cuddles, pets, and cute sounds.

Designed for kids ages 4 and up, Mama Surprise comes with a plush mama guinea pig that responds as kids nurture her. I love that while the creature’s head is firm, her body is soft and squishy, so kids can cuddle her just like a real guinea pig. When kids press her head, she reacts with different cute sounds, including giggles, “oohs,” and more. Kids can also brush out her fur with the included purple brush to keep her looking good, and they can feed her the pretend celery to hear a variety of munching sounds.

But nurturing the mama guinea pig is only part of the fun. Mama Surprise also includes a compact, yet impressive hutch, complete with unscented paper shavings that look just like a real guinea pig’s bedding. It’s the perfect home for the mama guinea pig and her soon-to-be-born babies! It will also give kids a great little piece of room decor they can leave out on a dresser or nightstand. And all of the baby delivery magic happens in the hutch!

Kids can nurture mama to get her ready to deliver one baby at a time. When she’s ready, her heart will glow and she will sing a special little tune. Kids can place her in the hutch and close the doors. The hutch has a heart that will begin to flash, and when the light goes out, the baby has arrived inside!

The babies don’t come into the world empty-handed. Each one comes with a little special package filled with accessories that help them express their personalities. One baby has a rock and roll look complete with dark sunglasses, another is serving preppy vibes with a cute little bow, and the third baby is a princess complete with a tiara.

The babies’ arrival is nothing short of amazing. Kids will love waiting to see when each baby will come, and what its personality will be. And while the fun doesn’t take long to begin (the first baby arrives within about 15 minutes of starting playtime), it lasts for days on end (the mama will deliver her second baby about 10 hours after the first, and the third baby about 10 hours after that). Or, if you have impatient kiddos at home, you can set the hutch to “fast” mode and watch all three babies make their debut within 30 minutes.

Parents might want to consider setting this toy up solo without kids in the room, in an effort to preserve the magic behind the reveal. But after the babies are delivered once, Mama Surprise includes instructions on how to reset the hutch to deliver the babies again and again. Adults and kids alike will love that this toy is not a single-use, one-and-done mystery reveal — it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

The mama guinea pig is soft and responsive, with more than 20 sounds and reactions in response to how kids care for her, but be aware that she does not move on her own. The babies do not have any interactive elements, but kids will absolutely love dressing them up with their included accessories, combing through their fur, and playing pretend acting out any scenarios they can dream up for their new guinea pig family.

Mama Surprise combines nurturing pet play with a creative, unique surprise that will delight kids. This toy is packed with play value, surprises, and downright adorableness that ensures it will be one of those hot, hard-to-find toys this holiday season.
