Straight from the streets of New Salem, five beloved characters are solving the mystery of boredom with Monster High Skulltimate Secrets: Fearidescent Series. Kids can unbox more than 19 surprises, including fashions, accessories, and themed pieces. Together these items make more than 125 looks for the doll.
Kids and doll collectors will know right off the (vampire) bat which character they’re getting, so they can choose their favorite. The collection features Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Frankie Stein, Lagoona Blue, and Cleo De Neil — each with a color-coordinated coffin-shaped box. When kids open it up, they will immediately find their brand-new doll, but that’s not it! They’ll also find a key to unlock four compartments, each with a few secrets buried inside.
I unboxed Lagoona Blue (Great Scarrier Reef, represent!) and discovered swimmingly adorable accessories like clam-shaped makeup and a new outfit. There was also a new key in each compartment that can be put in warm water to reveal its true color. The keys then fit onto a skull-shaped keychain to wear with style.
Monster High dolls have been a hit with kids since they came out in 2010, but they’re also huge in the doll collecting space, and Mattel knows that. To help make collecting and displaying easier, there’s two holes on the back of the coffin to hang it up on the wall. If anyone reading this is in a Zoom call with me and sees a colorful coffin up on my wall, now you know! The packaging is colorful and immediately screams “Monster High” to those who know it, and for those who don’t, well, it’s gothic and gorgeous.

For kids who may not want to hang the coffin on the wall, they can use it as a background for storytelling, and it also doubles as storage for the doll and her accessories. When they are done reenacting their favorite Monster High scenes, they can pack the doll up and put the package away in a toy box or slide it onto a bookshelf.
