Today is Pokémon Day, and trainers worldwide got the first look at exciting new events spanning multiple Pokémon series. In case you missed the livestream, here are some highlights of what’s to come for the franchise’s 29th anniversary.
The first announcement shared that new episodes are coming for the Netflix stop-motion animated series “Pokémon Concierge.” They’re scheduled for a September release, and the first four episodes of the show are available to watch from now until March 9 on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, so get ready to feel like it’s summertime with these fun and sunny episodes!
Next, the presentation went over details for the Pokémon mobile titles, like Pokémon GO, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Café Remix, and Pokémon Unite. Each game will have some events featuring new characters joining their respective games, like Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie joining Pokémon Unite’s roster or Flapple and Appletun joining the Pokémon Cafe Remix team. Fans of Pokémon GO are preparing for the GO Tour: Unova – Global event, and it was announced that players will be able to do research to encounter special legendary Pokémon like Victini and Shiny Meloetta.
Next, fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) were shown a new Mega Evolution Series that will come to the physical card game sometime this year, as well as a new Triumphant Light-themed pack on the Pokémon TCG Pocket app to celebrate 100 million downloads. Players can go on the app from today until April 29 to receive free special booster packs that are guaranteed to include one card of a level four rarity or higher. Special Missions in Pokémon TCG Pocket will also be available from now until March 26.
Then, the announcement came that future games and TCG packs would soon be available in Latin American Spanish, increasing the total number of available languages to 10. What came next was a brand-new mobile battling component to the main series, Pokémon Champions, which will allow Trainers to bring their favorites from Pokémon HOME into the app to test their battling skills. The game is currently in development, with no set release date at this time.

Then the big announcement trainers have been waiting for: updates on the upcoming main series game, Pokémon Legends Z-A. The game will take place in the Kalos region, specifically focusing on Lumiose City and its urban development plan to make it a place where people and Pokémon can live together in harmony. Wild Zones are being installed throughout the city, and trainers can catch Pokémon with their starter Pokémon tagging along for the journey: either Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig. Players may recognize some familiar faces along their journey, with new friends joining their journey. Mega Evolution will return for this title, and with the new battle mechanics, fans are going to experience the phenomenon in a whole new way. Pokémon Legends Z-A is set for release later this year, so trainers won’t need to wait too much longer to get their hands on the game.
