RETRO VIBES STRAIGHT OUTTA 1984

  • Wholesome companions for kids
  • Nostalgic collectibles for “kidults”
  • Soft bodies with sculpted heads

This 12-inch doll collection from The Loyal Subjects‘ TLS Toy division features Rainbow Brite celebrates 40 years of friendship. Created in collaboration with Hallmark, these dolls feature classic styling with soft plush bodies, roto-molded sculpted heads, iconic yarn hair, and fashions that look retro but are made from modern fabrics with vibrant colors and cool textures. Each colorful friend comes packed in a yellow window box that recalls the originals that once lined the shelves at stores like Toys “R” Us and Child World way back when.

Remember 1984? No, not the Van Halen album, but the year that brought us Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Rainbow Brite! Now, thanks to The Loyal Subjects, Rainbow Brite is back in toy departments alongside similarly retro friends (like Strawberry Shortcake, also available from TLS Toy!) to delight a new generation of kids while delivering a hearty serving of nostalgia for the “big” kids that were there from the start. These 12-inch dolls for kids ages 3 and up are great for play and display.

Now, whatever happened to our VHS copy of Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer?

While Rainbow Brite, Stormy, and Tickled Pink are widely available, a fourth friend — Moonglow — was sold as an exclusive offering at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) in July 2024. If you’d like to complete the set, Moonglow is available at Amazon.
