Scruff-a-Luvs, from Moose Toys, returns with Real Rescue, the latest edition to the magical Scruff-a-Luvs family of plush pets. The Real Rescue pets react to kids’ nurturing, caring attention, just like a pet rescued IRL.
The plush pet arrives as a lonely, sad, matted ball of fur, shivering and whimpering from the moment kids take it out of the box. Once kids give it a little TLC, they’ll hear more than 30 lifelike sounds and interactions — including shivering, whimpering, feeding, hiccups, and a heartbeat — from the Real Rescue pet. The package includes a Real Rescue electronic pet, a collar ID tag, a bottle, a comb, an adoption certificate, an instruction manual, and the batteries required to power the pet’s interactive features.

The Scruff-a-luvs Real Rescue offers kids a chance to experience what it’s like to adopt and nurture a shelter pet of their own, which is particularly valuable considering millions of real dogs enter shelters each year. The toys have a philanthropical component, too. For every Scruff-a-Luvs Real Rescue adopted, the company will donate part of the proceeds to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to help real animals find their “furever” homes.
