As many families continue social distancing into the holiday season, kids may be feeling restless from all this time at home. Parents can help keep kids connected and entertained with a variety of Sesame Street-themed activities and products, including apps, books, music, toys, and more!
Activity-based video calling app Caribu recently added more than 100 Sesame Street titles to its e-book library, giving families a way to stay connected with friends and relatives from afar as they read stories together during calls. There is also a variety of holiday-themed stories available to make Thanksgiving and winter break more festive.
Kids who love to help out in the kitchen should check out Cookies for Elmo from Sourcebooks, for a cookie recipe and to learn about the importance of sharing. Sourcebooks also released Free Write: A Poetry Notebook by Kwame Alexander, filled with poetry starters, inspirational quotes, fill-in-the-blank activities, and space for kids ages 8-12 to scribble and doodle in.
When it’s time to settle in on the couch, Shout! Factory Kids has a Monster Hits: Rock & Rhyme with Elmo video collection of singalong songs and nursery rhymes paired with monster moments from Sesame Street. Musical kids will love It’s Time to Rock & Rhyme album from Warner Music Group, featuring a mix of Sesame Street songs and other classics to get kids moving.
And we can’t forget about the Sesame Street toys! Hasbro’s Rock and Rhyme Elmo is a plush friend for babies ages 18 months and up. It sings five songs and says 14 phrases in both English and Spanish. Kids can play along on the Elmo-sized guitar and squeeze Elmo’s nose for honking sounds. The Sesame Street-themed Magna-Tiles sets from CreateOn are a fun way for kids to build and count with all their Sesame Street pals.
We could stay quarantined forever with all of these great activities!
