Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, is reaching out to help families from all economic backgrounds by launching new bilingual resources.
The nonprofit’s research findings revealed that COVID-19 and its corresponding financial impact on families had made healthy foods difficult to afford. With support from the Walmart Foundation, the Healthy Habits for All program was created to address these issues. As ambassador, Chef Lily (a Sesame Street Muppet) helps promote accessible strategies for making healthy, budget-friendly meals and guides kids toward developing healthy relationships with food.
The Healthy Habits for All initiative builds on Sesame Workshop’s existing library of “Eating Well” content that helps families build balanced diets; make groceries last; and access affordable, healthy food. The new content bundle includes three articles, free printables, a kid’s storybook, a video demonstration, and a pair of short documentaries. With these resources, families can learn how to “stretch” out their groceries, plan ahead in their meals, practice healthy eating, encourage kids to try new foods, and more.
These new resources are available in English and Spanish on the Sesame Street in Communities website. New resources will also be distributed in-person through on-the-ground partners.
