Kids’ favorite heroes are infected with a familiar face — and new powers!
The alien symbiote Venom is known as both a pure villain and an anti-hero, and now he’s coming to the collectible tabletop game Marvel Battleworld from Funko Games.
For those who aren’t familiar, the game centers around defeating Thanos, who has trapped power within Thanostones. It features iconic Marvel heroes as collectible figures (called Hero Movers within the game) with associated hero cards. The goal of the game is to win three battles and defeat Thanos. If a player decides to use more than one hero card or play cooperatively with a friend, more battles are required to win.
The newest series of characters in the collectible game series focuses on Venom, bringing more characters to the ever-expanding Marvel Battleworld system.
Spider-Man, Venom’s original human host, is of course a character in the game. But with the Rise of the Symbiotes expansion, it will be more than just him or Eddie Brock finding themselves infected with the goopy alien. Other characters in this series with a new “venomized” look include Groot, Spider-Ham, Iron Man, and more.

This Venom-centered series also features symbiotic sleeves that go over hero cards and give them new abilities based on hosting Venom. The battles will use the classic mechanics, but now players will have heroes who are venomized with associated powers.
The Rise of the Symbiotes Battle Ball ($9.99) contains two mystery Hero Movers, while the Rise of the Symbiotes Mega Pack ($22.99) comes with six new Hero Movers, including an exclusive Carnage with a blade arm. Two of those figures also come inside reusable Thanostones. Get the Battle Ball here and the Mega Pack here. Both are available for preorder now, with a full release on Nov. 27.
