Nickelodeon is teaching kids about civics as the 2024 election cycle gears up. First Lady of the U.S. Jill Biden and Former First Lady Laura Bush teamed up with Nickelodeon to launch Well Versed, a musical, animated series that kids can watch as they explore democracy and the role they play in society.
The series features 12 music videos that will explore different lessons based on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, government structure, and other important lessons that introduce kids to civics at an early age through characters that are their own age. Eight of the videos will feature sing-along songs for kids ages 6-11, while the other four are designed for kids ages 2-5.
“All of us — people just like you, your friends, and your family — have an important role to play in our democracy,” Dr. Biden says. “Your role right now, as you continue to grow up and go to school, is to learn. Learn everything you can about the things you love, the things that make you curious, but also take time to learn your rights as a citizen … Democracy only works when all of us get involved and stay involved. So get ready to jump in, raise your hand, and let your voice be heard. I’m proud of you, and President Biden and I are counting on you.”
Well Versed will launch on Nickelodeon, Paramount+, Noggin, the Nickelodeon YouTube Channel, and other platforms starting this Wednesday, Nov. 1. This series is making learning about government fun!
