You’ve probably heard your kids talking about Roblox before, even if you don’t know exactly what it is. Roblox is a digital platform where kids can hang out virtually with friends and play games in immersive, 3D worlds. Toy manufacturer WowWee is jumping into the world of Roblox with a new toy line and game called My Avastars, inspired by kids’ use of avatars to explore, create, and express themselves in the metaverse.
WowWee is partnering with Roblox game developer Gamefam to create the My Avastars: RP roleplaying game, launching in July. Kids can get to know the My Avastars characters in this Roblox game, while also collecting the physical My Avastars dolls in real life. Both the physical and digital versions of the dolls will feature a variety of looks and accessories so that kids can customize them with hundreds of different looks.
The doll line will launch with three dolls named KawaiiPie^^, A_VibeThng, and Dreamer 3.0. Each doll comes dressed in their signature outfit and includes a mystery bonus outfit and reusable sticker sheets for more than 100 possible looks in each box.
Kids can use the peel-and-repeat stickers and removable outfits to style and rearrange their dolls, just like they do for Roblox avatars. Kids can also redeem each doll’s individual code within the My Avastars: RP game on the Roblox platform to access their dolls in the game, unlocking virtual fashions, hairstyles, and facial features.
My Avastars are available for preorder starting today, with a limited number shipping this summer before they officially hit shelves at major retailers (including Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Macy’s) in October. The dolls are recommended for kids ages 6 and up, and will retail for $24.99 each.
