The Sesame Street and CNN Town Halls have been a great resource for teaching kids about current events, including last week’s ABC’s of COVID-19. This week’s special will shed light on racism and the nationwide protests following the murder of George Floyd.
Big Bird will join CNN commentator Van Jones and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill to moderate Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism. Sesame Street characters — including Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Rosita — and other experts will join in to answer questions submitted by families. Click here and scroll to the bottom to submit a question. The Town Hall will give parents an opportunity to talk to their kids about racism, explain the recent protests, embrace diversity, and teach them to be more empathetic and understanding.
Sesame Street has also released a statement about racism across its social media channels.
