Let’s call this review “The One with the TVs for Your Toys.”
Tiny TV Classics is a new line of collectible toys that present a world of opportunities, like Ross Geller and Rachel Greene appearing on a really tiny screen. Of course, if Ross and Rachel aren’t the Friends you’re into, you can just use the tiny, ’90s-inspired remote to change the “channel” to surf on over to another scene. Hey, how you doin’ there, Joey?
Each collectible TV from Basic Fun! is packed with fan-favorite scenes from iconic movies and TV series spanning from the 1960s (Batman, Star Trek) to the present day (Big Bang Theory, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy). They’re also appropriately retro, with each TV and its accompanying remote designed to reflect the decade of the content. Who didn’t have a silver TV with a matching black stand when South Park came out?
“Oh, honey, he’s teasing you. Nobody has two television sets.” — Stella Baines, Back to the Future (1985)
While owning two TVs in the ’50s would’ve been quite a big deal, by 1985 it was a little bit more accessible, yet plutonium still wasn’t available in every corner drugstore. With the Back to the Future Tiny TV Classics set, kids — or their parents — can follow Marty McFly’s adventures from ’85 to ’55 and back to ’85 again. Then, families can extend the fun with eight TVs in all.
Overall, our team has been in love with Tiny TV Classics from the moment they hit the scene this summer. We dug them so much that they’re included in our 16th annual Holiday Gift Guide! Aside from being unique, they’re really cross-generational and hit those nostalgia buttons really hard. The scale makes them fun to play with alongside action figures and dolls, but adults will love to display these in their homes or offices.
It is important to note that while most Tiny TV Classics are suitable for kids ages 6 and up, some carry a slightly higher age grade of 8 and up reflective of their content. Additionally, South Park is suggested for ages 17 and up. Tiny TV Classics are available exclusively at Walmart and since we’re in the midst of a unique holiday shopping season — a global supply chain crisis — you may actually find the best selection at your local store as they may not always be available online and if they are, they might be offered through a third-party seller at a higher price.
If you’re looking for a fun gift idea that breaks from the traditional sense of what a toy might be, Tiny TV Classics just might deliver a hit this holiday season with an assortment that’s sure to please friends and family members alike!
