The holiday season is fast approaching and Apple TV+ has got parents covered for holiday-themed kids’ entertainment.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is an Apple TV+ reboot of the original Fraggle Rock series that is getting its own holiday special with Night of the Lights premiering on Nov. 18. It will feature everyone’s favorite Fraggle Rock characters during the “Night of the Lights” holiday as they head out on a new adventure to find the brightest light and learn about friendship. The Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock holiday special is made by the Jim Henson Co. and produced by Ritamarie Peruggi.
Sago Mini Friends also has a special, this one for Thanksgiving, premiering on Nov. 18. During “Happy Thankful Day,” Harvey and Robin find themselves in a town entirely lacking in gratitude. Kids can watch as Harvey the dog and all his animal friends express their gratitude for every little thing, sometimes through song.
The Interrupting Chicken holiday special “A Chicken Carol” is an ode to the Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol. Ebenezer Wolf is canceling the holidays, so Piper and friends are going to need to save them. Interrupting Chicken is a preschool series that debuts on Apple TV+ on Nov. 18 and is based on books by David Ezra Stein. The special Christmas episode premieres on Dec. 2.
The Pretzel and the Puppies holiday special “Merry Muttgomery!” will also debut on Dec. 2. A snowstorm is putting the holiday festival at risk, so the puppies have to figure out how to still have fun while snowed in. The Pretzel and the Puppies series is based on the book Pretzel by Margaret and H.A. Rey, authors of Curious George.
For Christmas Day viewing, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is making its premiere on Dec. 25. This animated film is based on Charlie Mackesy’s book by the same name, and features a mole, a fox, and a horse helping a young boy find his way home. The film stars Tom Hollander as the mole, Idris Elba as the fox, Gabriel Byrne as the horse, and Jude Coward Nicoll as the boy.
For those that love the classics, there is plenty of Snoopy and Charlie Brown to go around. The Snoopy Show holiday collection is premiering on Dec. 2, going into new adventures featuring everyone’s favorite dog. I Want a Dog for Christmas will begin streaming on Dec. 2 as well, featuring Snoopy’s brother Spike. If you’re not quite ready to commit to a subscription, Apple TV+ will also offer free windows for non-subscribers to stream classic holiday specials, with It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown available from Oct. 28-31, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving available between Nov. 23-27, and A Charlie Brown Christmas available from Dec. 22-25.
Apple TV+ is available in a number of different regions and on various services such as Roku and Chromecast. With all these holiday specials to choose from, the family and friend watch parties are sure to be full of the spirit of the season.
