angelfish_bowl_web_1If you are the type of parent that is anything like mine are, you don’t want any animals in the house. You have that mysterious allergy to all and any types of fur, scales, and feathers (I was always on to you, mom). I vowed to my parents that I would have a zoo in my house to make up for the lack of pet companions that I had as a kid. Now that I’m older, I’m not sure if a zoo in the house is such a good idea, but an awesome alternative to a real life pet is the Hexbug Aquabot 2.0 from Innovation First.

Part pet and part toy, the Aquabot 2.0 provides kids with the experience of having a pet fish without all of the extra shenanigans, like changing water and feeding it. Plus, it has all of the awesome features of a Hexbug. The Aquabot uses “smart fish technology” to do things such as change speeds, depths, and directions on its own when it swims. The fish automatically turns on when you place it in water and turns off when you take it out. It also has an inner pulsating LED glow. One of the coolest features is the hi-tech sensor that wakes up the sleeping fish. After five minutes, it will fall asleep and a simple tap on the tank will wake him back up.

Which is the Aquabot and which is my fish Pascal? You decide.

You can purchase the Aquabot alone or you can get it with the fishbowl. The bowl is in the shape of a hexagon and stands about an inch shorter than an iPhone, the perfect size for any nightstand or desk. The bowl comes with a repositionable background sticker and a restickable nametag. The series of Aquabot 2.0 comes in two fish styles, each in five different colors. The Angelfish is available in blue, green, orange, pink, and yellow; while the Hammerhead Shark comes in blue, green, purple, red, and yellow.

The portability of this fish makes it really easy for kids to take their new pet along with them everywhere. All the fish needs is some water—in a bowl, sink, bathtub, or even a swimming pool. If you feel as though your child is too young, not responsible yet, or don’t want to deal with the hassle of cleaning up and feeding a fish, the Aquabot is the perfect option.

This product and more from Hexbug will be on display at The Big Toy Book’s Sweet Suite 14event in New York City on July 17. Part of Blogger Bash, a two-day conference connecting bloggers and brands nationwide, Sweet Suite will feature the hottest toys and games for the upcoming holiday season.
