A small doll can make a big impact and Barbie is tackling our sea-sized sustainability problem with a new line: Barbie Loves the Ocean.

The collection includes three dolls made from 90% ocean-bound plastic parts, as well as themed playsets made from more than 90% recycled plastic. The dolls are about 11 inches tall and come in three different skin tones with varied accessories, such as heart-shaped sunglasses and floral-print dresses. Designed for kids ages 3 and up, the line will also include playsets and accessories.

The beach shack playset includes more than 18 accessories, such as ice cream cones, blenders, bowls, and more. The beach-themed playset features an umbrella, a lounge chair, and a towel along with eight more tiny accessories and a beachy Barbie doll in pink slides and a Malibu T-shirt. Lastly, the volleyball-themed playset features a volleyball net and accompanying sporty accessories, such as a visor, a water bottle, and a boombox.

To further the support for ocean sustainability initiatives, Barbie has released a new vlog on its YouTube channel titled “Barbie Shares How We Can All Protect the Planet.” In the video, Barbie discusses how to help the environment by conserving energy, composting, volunteering for cleanup efforts, and more. Check it out below!

Barbie will also partner up with 4ocean — a company that sells bracelets made from recycled ocean materials — to launch a limited-edition, beaded 4ocean x Barbie bracelet in Barbie’s signature pink color. For every bracelet sold, 4ocean will pull one pound of trash from oceans, rivers, and coastlines.

This collection and partnership follow Mattel’s goal to achieve 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastic materials across all its products by 2030. Barbie also aims to achieve 95% recycled or FSC-certified paper and wood fiber materials used in packaging by the end of 2021. The Barbie Loves the Ocean collection is available at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and barbie.mattel.com. The 4ocean x Barbie bracelet is available at 4ocean.com.
