It’s not technically a Transformer, but it’s certainly making a case to join the club.

With the Ben 10 Rustbucket Vehicle & Playset from Playmates Toys, kids ages 4 and up can transform a two-in-one vehicle into a three-level play set perfect for laying the beat down on some bad guys. Based on Cartoon Network’s hit animated series Ben 10, this transforming play set features everything kids need to bring the Ben 10 universe to life, including battle features and multiple ways to play.Affectionately known as the Rustbucket, kids are sure to recognize this RV from the animated series. After all, it is Max Tennyson’s trusty laser-equipped vehicle of choice. Kids can drive it around on its plastic wheels, and role play with the laser cannon fastened to the top. There’s also a ladder, a satellite, window openings, and room for a Ben 10 Basic Figure (sold separately) to sit in the driver’s seat.

When kids are ready to take their Rustbucket to the next level, they can simply fold in the wheels to form a sturdy base, lift up the back of the RV, and snap in some supporting pieces to watch their vehicle transform into a three-tier play set that stands more than 2-feet tall. The best part is that all of the parts that make up the three-level play set are contained inside the Rustbucket itself, so kids can simply open it up and collapse it back down to switch between vehicle and play set.

In play set form, kids can explore a variety of cool features, including a plasma blaster, an “alien-vator,” a grabbing claw, and an alien lab. The inner walls of the Rustbucket also sport colorful Ben 10 graphics, which help bring the world to life. Action figures are not included in the set, but kids can (and most definitely should) collect all of the Ben 10 Basic Figures to grow their real-life Ben 10 universe.

My favorite feature in the set is the alien transformation chamber, which allows kids to lock Ben inside and spin him around to reveal one of his alter egos. It’s the ideal vehicle for fueling kids’ imaginations and fostering creative play.
