Dax Shepard

If you’ve had a kid since 2013, there’s a solid chance that you’ve lived through the PAW Patrol years. Perhaps you’re living in them right now. And if your little one is still an infant or toddler, well then I have some news for you: the PAW Patrol years are coming whether you want to admit it or not.

For those unfamiliar, Dax Shepard has used his time at home during quarantine to record new episodes of his ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast and to film a helpful explainer video to assist all parents as they transition into these important years. You’ll want to pay attention because this is very important information pertaining to what Shepard says is the story of “an emancipated minor who hangs out with some talking dogs and together they put out fires, rescue chickens and do other cool stuff.”

To paraphrase Han Solo from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, “it’s true. All of it.” Dax is 100% on the mark with this. I know because I’ve lived it.

I distinctly remember the exact moment that I first discovered Spin Master‘s PAW Patrol. I was picking up my oldest daughter from a playdate not long after the first season premiered. We didn’t know the other family very well, but our kids had bonded at the local public library. When I picked up my daughter, the kids were watching PAW Patrol on Nick Jr. and the other kids’ mom invited me into the kitchen where she gave me a hard pitch on the financial freedom that some multilevel marketing scheme would allegedly afford me. Our kids never had another playdate, but my PAW Patrol years had begun.

Finley the Rock Daughter

Over the years, we’ve had a ton of fun with PAW Patrol and like Dax says, “you’ll have enough toys to be set for 80 years.” In our house that meant more toys (see above) than we could count plus the Nintendo Switch game, the bedding, themed birthday parties, attending the PAW Patrol Live! show, and more.

So settle in and enjoy it. Kids are only little once!
